Cyclist Risk Profile – Who?

It is to be expected perhaps that as cycling is a form of transport more commonly used by ‘younger’ people, the casualty age profile above shows very few people (7%) over the age of 60 recorded as cyclist casualties.  It is very interesting to note that the peak ages are between 25 and 34 and not in the younger age bands.  Numbers of casualties are still high even up until the late forties however before they start to drop off in the 50’s.  A very large proportion of all cyclist casualties are male (78%) which is much higher than for other road user types.
