See.Sense ICON+ – Front Light Review

We were really impressed when we reviewed the ICON rear light earlier this year, so we were looking forward to trying out the the new front light to see how it matched up. The ICON+ is an upgrade on the original ICON which contained an impressive 2 x 160 lumen LED’s. The ICON+ has been upgraded and now boasts to 2 x 210 lumen LED’s which is seriously bright!

The design is the same as the rear light and for more detail check out our previous review here. On the technology side, both the rear light and front light contain the same features including crash and theft alerts and the all important smartphone control, which has got to be our favourite, accessible through the App. One feature which we didn’t use when looking at the rear light, but is really cool is the pairing of devices. Through the App you can pair up and rear and front light in order to control both at the same time and select the brightness and flashing patterns, rather than control the front and rear light separately. Other great features include the built in thermal management which automatically regulates the brightness of the light and the auto on/off which recognises when your bike moves off and turns on and also will turn off after 3 mins of inactivity. Assuming you’re like me and have your smartphone mounted to your handlebars, the ease at which you can control the light is really handy. Being able to simply and quickly adjust the brightness as I cycled between pitch black country roads and through villages with streetlights is great. The battery alerts are also really useful so you can preserve the light in order to complete your journey.

Full list of features:

  • 420 Lumens from two CREE LED’s
  • Daylight visibility
  • Intelligent sensors, reacts and responds to environment, road features and car headlights
  • Up to 15 hours run time, low battery alerts
  • Lightweight – 64 grams including mount
  • Smartphone App
  • Crash alerts

  • Firmware updates

With the clocks going back and the nights drawing in, when commuting or riding your bike into the evenings it’s really important you have a good set of bike lights. Even during the day in winter, poor visibility and fog are not uncommon, so using your bright lights to increase you visibility to other road users is also important. With the quality and features that ICON+ has to offer, we doubt you’ll be disappointed!
