Urban Limits Tour 2013 – Day 3

Despite having a lot of miles in our legs we were all still raring to go for the final day which effectively started at Maidenhead Town Hall where we met up with a group of riders from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council.

There was a little cloud cover first thing for our ride through Cookham, Wargrave, Woodley and into Reading.  By the time we met up in Broad Street however the sun was out and the temperatures were getting up.

We ran an event for several hours and talked to dozens of cyclists and drivers and got their thoughts on how everyone can be safer on the roads.  We also had great success with the Golden Minute challenge with the furthest distance set by Frazer with 0.42 miles in only a minute.

As usual there were load of people willing to give it a go with the reward of a Garmin 800 GPS cycle computer for one lucky entrant.  Techniques on the bike varied and as usual there was always one guy who went out too fast and stopped after 40 seconds!

The final section took us out through Tilehurst, Upper Basildon, Compton and back to East Ilsley.  The last 30km were quite hilly though and it’s fair to say we deserved a cold drink at the end!

Roll on 2014 for something even better.
